From Kashmir to your kitchen

Saffron has been grown in the Kashmir valley for centuries. Each autumn the fields around Pampore flower for a few short weeks, and the crimson stigmas inside every crocus are picked by hand and dried.
KashmirSoul exists to bring food from this place to your kitchen. Saffron is where we start.
Saffron, briefly.
What it is, how to use it, which pack to pick, and how to keep it.

- What it is
- Saffron is the dried stigma of the saffron crocus. Each flower carries only three, which is why it is sold by the gram.
- How to use it
- Steep a few threads in a little warm water or milk for ten to fifteen minutes, then add the liquid and the threads to your dish.
- Choosing a pack
- The smallest pack suits a first try or occasional cooking. Larger packs make sense if you cook with saffron often, or want to share it.
- Storing it
- Keep saffron in an airtight container, somewhere cool, dark and dry.
